About me
Welcome to my website which is focussed mainly on Drone Photography but also some of my Canon DSLR work. I have been a photographer for more than 30 years and although I have attended City & Guilds courses which I was fortunate to obtain a distinction, I was also awarded the LRPS (Licentiateship) from the Royal Photographic Society. Having worked in the Emergency Services as a Firefighter for the Fire Service, Devon Ambulance Service as an Emergency Medical Technician, HM Coastguard rescue team and now the RNLI as a Water Safety Officer with drowning prevention as a major part of my work.
I also offer my drones to a Dog Rescue organisation at no cost to the owner of the lost dog. And on top of all that I also give my time to the Exeter Port Authority to ensure safe practices are followed for people using our waterways and open water.
Drone Photography came about following my attending a Drone qualification course at Exeter over three days and this gave me the push to obtain my Commercial Operations certificate from the CAA. Known as the PfCO (Permission for Commercial Operations) Now known as the OA (Operational Authorisation) It gives me an outlet to either work commercially for a customer, whether it be property photography or video but also gives me an outlet to share my own work.
And being an Aviation author, it also gives me a wider understanding of the safety elements that Drone Operators/Remote Pilots need to bear in mind prior to each flight planning session.
Having an interest in aviation, including aircraft preservation, the normal progression for me was to take my photography into the air. And this is where I now find myself...head in the clouds, so to speak. Flight Safety is a number one priority, and the following of the CAA rules comes first plus my flights are covered by Coverdrone Insurance.
